Caregiver Declaration on Prevention of Elder Abuse

The Caregiver Declaration on Prevention of Elder Abuse (CDPEA) also known as Gideon Caregivers’ Oath  is a commitment by caregivers to prevent elder abuse. It disavows and discredits the known causes of elder abuse. The declaration creates a sense of responsibility and accountability that ensures caregivers uphold specific ethical standards and provide the best care, to the fullest extent of their abilities and that, to all elders.

This declaration is a call for action to caregivers to work towards the benefit of elders. It is a constant reminder to do no harm to elders. To ‘do no harm’ to elders means no psychological abuse, no financial abuse, no neglect, no physical abuse, and no sexual abuse.
